Let Recruitment Agency Find Your Perfect Employee
A recruitment agency can save you thousands in wasted money and many man hours of time by getting you the best employee for the job. Getting exactly the right worker however needs some input from you. The recruitment agency can get highly skilled personnel, but they won’t know which of their people will best fit your job opening unless they get detailed information from you first. Here’s how you can work with the recruitment agency officer to find the perfect match for your vacancy.
What’s the Job?
Think carefully about what you need the new member of staff to do. If there’s a job description that covers the position, check through it carefully to ensure that it’s an accurate up-to-date reflection of the duties the new member of staff will carry out. Is there anything else that you would like the new employee to do in addition to the existing duties? Make sure that this is on the job description before giving it to the recruitment agency.
Personal Skills are Important
When faced with a group of people who are equally qualified and experienced for your job, how do you tell them apart? One way is by having an idea of the kind personality that would fit best into your workplace. Would someone young and enthusiastic be an asset to your team, or are you looking more for a more mature employee? Do you want someone with a lot of ambition who will soon climb up the ladder and move out of the position sending you back to the recruitment agency within a relatively short time? Or do you want someone who will make a lifetime career out of the position? Do you need an employee who has great people skills, or are you happy with someone who is all about the job? By having a good idea of the kind of personality you want the chosen person to have, and discussing this with the recruitment agency, they will be able to reduce the qualified candidates down to those who also fit your personality criteria.
Other Preferences
Do you have a no-smoking policy? Do you need someone who is willing to work occasional nights to complete a deadline? The more information that you can give the recruitment agency, the more targeted the potential candidates will be. It may not be politically correct to say that you want someone who won’t need maternity leave, or that your current male only staff room would be disrupted by introducing a woman into the mix. But if this is the reality of the situation, then informally discussing this with the recruitment officer will mean that they won’t send you candidates who will cause you personnel problems.
A recruitment agency is there to help you get the best staff available, but without your help they can only recommend the people who look right on paper. Give the additional information above and help the recruitment agency drill further down into their possible candidates. This way you should end up with a new employee who will slot straight into the position from the moment they enter the workplace.
